Next Season

January 24, 2013

This upcoming season I plan on following the team in a different manner.  I am going to shut myself in so to speak.  I haven’t worked it all out yet but I am going to watch as many innings as I can, abstain from reading or watching any traditional non-game media coverage (ESPN, Fox Sports, NY Newspapers, etc) and limit my time reading other people’s tweets about the team.  The only non-game info I will look at will be stats and box scores.

The idea is I’ll then be posting my perceptions and observations in a completely unfiltered, uninfluenced manner.  When the year is over I will look back and compare my observations to what the traditional media writes about.

In my warped mind, this is interesting.  Not sure it will be interesting to anyone else, but who cares right?

An Off Day Glimpse At Being A Midwestropolitan

April 4, 2011

A message to new readers of this blog:

I am not a believer of forcing the issue,  in terms of providing content for this blog that is.  I do enjoy the stolen base and the squeeze bunt however.

Although I have been writing quite frequently lately, there will be times when that is not the case.  You see, I believe in quality not quantity.  The quality part is a matter of debate for some of you I’m sure.

There are a number of great Mets Blogs out in the blogosphere which helps makes this team fun to follow.  There are also a number of them out there that aren’t so great.  One reason for this, in my humble opinion, is some people tend to force the issue and post content just for the sake of posting content.

For example……just kidding.  Shame on those of you who thought I might actually call out a a fellow blogger.  I’m not trying to turn this into Tupac versus Biggie people.  No matter what my opinion about content is, I still respect everyone that puts themselves out there.   I got nothin’ but love for ya.  For those of you wishing I called someone out, you stay classy San Diego.

Speaking of San Diego.  A friend of mine (thanks DeWayne!) forwarded me an article from the San Diego Tribune about how Butler has succeeded in men’s basketball with kids from the fine state of Indiana.

Why is this relevant?

1.  I felt like writing.

2.  There really isn’t a topic about the Mets that is worth writing about today.  I could force out a piece about Willie Harris and why he will or won’t be a diamond in the rough this year for the Amazin’s.  Anyone who feels they have strong evidence at this point to support either argument is plain silly.  We are only three games into the season.

3.  This is my blog, and I don’t have the time or the desire to start another blog about Butler Basketball.  That seems kind of pointless to me for only one piece.

Let me make sure everyone is clear about something.  I am definitely pulling for the Bulldogs, as I live less than an hour away from campus depending on the traffic on 69.  However, I am not a fan.  There is more than one program in the Hoosier state.

4.  The article from the Sand Diego Trib is on point and a great read.  I felt it would give some of you New Yorkers an idea on the sports culture here in corn land.

So give it a read, enjoy, and then root for the Bulldogs tonight.  Feel free to let me know what your take on it is.  Have a great off day!
